“Boracay”… The sand bunker!

The dreaded fairway “sand bunker”… In the Philippines, we call it the “Boracay”. Boracay is an island in the country famous for its white beach sands and is usually frequented by foreign tourists and Filipinos alike. It is located approximately 315 km (196 mi) south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

But in golf, white beaches are a different matter which we golfers don’t want to be in. This course is the Sta. Elena Golf and Country Club located in Cabuyao, Laguna. It’s one of the courses South of Manila that is frequented by most golfers. The course is famous for its picturesque view of Mt. Makiling, a mountain located further south of Laguna. The bunker is wide and making it on regulation to the green is, rather, difficult. So I just played it to go back on track on the fairway and got a boogie in this hole.

If you happen to visit Philippines, make as part of your itinerary our Boracay… And I guarantee you, you will enjoy the place!
