sweet home on the road!
dirt as bed, rocks as pillows
sleep in chaos
Paranoia is a mindset that someone out there is a threat, someone is out there to get you…!
Although it is an irrational behavior sometimes, paranoia is a thought process usually taught to “spies”, assassins, and the Secret Service agents themselves to put these people on “high alert” at all times. But to ordinary citizens like us, paranoia is often times a case of mental disorder, of falsely accusing someone is out to harm you. It’s a bug hunt… and the bug does not exist! It’s chasing shadows but the shadows you see is actually yours!
A classic example when one feels that he was being followed is portrayed in the photograph. Imagine this… A vehicle started to follow you from the bank, after you have made a significant cash withrawal, until you reached your house. Panic may set in with a thought that the passengers of the vehicle is out to rob you of your money.
… Only to realize that the passengers are your neighbors who also withdrew money from the same bank where you’ve been. And that, my friends, is paranoia!
Yup, it’s “super-duper” mega hot in the city of Metro Manila nowadays, even with the forecasted typhoon entering the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday this week which is expected to bring showers during the weekend.
As you can see, a traffic enforcer of the Pasig City (one of the cities in the Metro Manila region) has a wet towel on top of his head to ease the heat from the sun, from the running engines, and those reflected back by the pavement.
Unlike those countries above the equator, Philippines has a normal temperature of about a hundred degrees Fahrenheit during summer (or about 35 degrees Celsius). Add that to a high humidity factor where your “sweat” become clammy to your skin, we all end up using a lot of “deodorants”! LOL!
I often see the top of this building every time I pass Makati Avenue going to Paseo De Roxas going home. The design of its uppermost floor, which I find “eerie”, reminds me of Vlad Dracul’s castle… Vlad Dracul, the Impaler, where the Dracula myth came from.
I used a 270mm lens in manual focus with an aperture of f/3.5 with both the shutter speed and ISO set to Auto to capture this photo. The building is more than a kilometer away from where I am.
It is called the “Shang Grand Tower”, a residential condominium located at Perea Street corner Dela Rosa Street in the Makati Central Business District.
It has a height of about 180 meters (590.55 ft) with a floor count of 46 above ground and 4 stories below ground. Its floor are is estimated to be 768,000 square feet with 7 elevators. The cost of building this structure was a staggering Php2 Billion or about US$48 Million (US$1: Php42).
I just wonder… Is a descendant of Vlad Dracul staying at this topmost floor who only comes out at night?
The sun has risen in Asia… Surrounded by the clouds, its morning glory has finally reached this part of the world (it takes about 8 minutes before sunlight reaches earth… Ergo, the light we see in the sky is always “late”).
Though it may be still noon or early evening in the other parts of the globe, I will still greet you, “Good morning, everyone!” and at the same time, “Good night, everyone!” 🙂
Our streets in Metro Manila are always packed with cars, specially on weekdays. It is not unusual to spend two to three hours travelling a distance of only ten kilometers.
Rush hours on Mondays and Fridays are the days when Metro Manila seems to stand still… When almost every major roads become a large parking lot with vehicles moving less than a meter every minute.
While in a “ginermous” traffic situation, I had this idea of taking photos of tail lights to kill the time and at least, enjoy my stay on the road for hours before reaching home. It’s just one of those days when you can do nothing but sit inside your car…
I hope you will enjoy the diversity of the tail lights I photographed. I’m not sure if the Asian models of our cars are the same with the North American, European, Africaan, Middle Eastern, South American, or Australian versions.
Which one is like your car?
